The next BlackBerry smartphone will be released next month, according to the CEO of the company. He has also previously said to wait two cheaper deals this year compared with the high-end Priv - one with a physical keyboard and one without.
This full touch model could be to see the light of day in July, as it turns out. And TCL, the Chinese company's known elsewhere for the manufacture of Alcatel-branded phones, could be the make it.
There are still a lot of evidence of this, however, and what we have is mostly circumstantial, as they said. But bear with us. TCL device with a product name DTEK 50 has been certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance, which is strange because DTEK is the name of the suite of privacy that is included in BlackBerry Priv. But wait, there's more! The model number for the device appears as STH100-2 TCL, which strangely manages to fully adhere to how to use the model numbers for their products BlackBerry (example - the Priv is STV100-1).
All this is confirmed, say, for older rumor that claimed BlackBerry and TCL signed any cooperation agreement for some time. That murmur went on to say that the first result of this new partnership would be the smartphone that we have known from previous leaks as the BlackBerry Hamburg, which apparently is based on Alcatel Idol 4.
Hamburg will come with a 5.2-inch touch screen 1080p and Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset, as revealed by a reference implementation. Idol 4 has exactly the same screen size and resolution, but uses the Snapdragon 617 instead. That said, all other specifications of Hamburg filtered through that benchmark performance are identical to the idol 4.
So it could be the case that this new BlackBerry is merely a renamed Alcatel Idol 4 with a different SoC. On the other hand, can look different, but is based on the same innards as the Idol 4. Or it could be a totally different phone specifications game is just a coincidence. We'll know for sure next month.
