OnePlus One gets an official OxygenOS 2.1.4 ROM

If you remember how OnePlus earned a place in the mobile area, then surely remembers the legendary OnePlus one was the "flagship murderer", which promised to cut. - Art specifications at an affordable price. Without digging too deep into the aspect of viral marketing and sales policy all the invitation, we will just stick to the positive and reiterate that the OnePlus One is still a legendary device and that has been a de facto standard and choice of a large part of the modding and Android developer community.
Since the original OS cyanogen or any of hundreds of other custom ROMs concerned OnePlus One users are spoiled for choice when it comes to software. To reaffirm their love for the original product, OnePlus team did the extra effort to enrich the pool ROM with latest addition - a new version of OxygenOS. OEM new line feeding devices, namely OnePlus OnePlus 2 and X and it makes sense to offer fans of the original sample homebrewed and experience. Today, this came as a OxygenOS 2.1.4 official build for the device.

There is, however, a few notable catches. First, the ROM comes in a complete end-to-end package that includes a boot loader, recovery and self-image of Android. This naturally means that the software will not be made available as OTA and has to be flashed on the device manually. An obvious and unpleasant consequence is that the storage device is cleaned while doing so. Many users have also expressed their concerns whether the recovery of the population, provided by OnePlus can be replaced by customized one after the flash, say TWRP, a valid question for any modding enthusiast and root access.

If the above points are not objectionable to you, you can go ahead and flash ROM. OnePlus has even provided a comprehensive guide to the whole process, but we're pretty sure that the majority of interested users are already quite familiar with the matter. However, note that the experience on offer is not entirely identical to that of the OnePlus 2 to OnePlus X. The OEM had to strip the patented audio technology MaxxAudio and applications. Manual camera mode and RAW capture is also absent from the building.
Also, some final notes. Going through the forum thread OnePlus and XDA, we find a number of people trying to side-load the ROM through TWRP. That could potentially work, but the official instructions strictly advise against it, as it could lead to a malfunctioning radio. Be sure to be lurking around the threads to update status and possible resolution of the matter before you go and brick your unit. There have also been reports of an inability to load the phone under OxygenOS 2.1.4, which is something to consider also.
