Samsung sold 1 million Galaxy Note8 smartphone in home South Korea

Sales of Samsung's Galaxy Note8 smartphone in South Korea have reached 1 million units in just over a month after the device reached local shelves, industry data showed on Thursday.

The South Korean technology giant began official sales of the 6.3-inch phablet on September 21, and sold 850,000 units through pre-orders, which began a week earlier, Yonhap news agency reported. The figure eclipsed the numbers of the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7, which managed to attract 380,000 preorders.

Samsung said it also plans to add the golden color edition (in South Korea) to Galaxy Note8 products starting Friday, which is currently available in black, blue and gray in the country. Galaxy Note8 is priced at 1.09 million won ($ 979). The device costs almost Rs 68,000 in India.
