Google finally decided to reveal the nickname of the next iteration of Android. Known simply as "O" for the past few months, while a bit of Developer Previews and Public Beta came out, it now officially has a full name called (Oreo) Android 8.0.
So yeah, the more rumored name actually turned out to be what Google chose to call their last sweet sweet. It is only the second time in Android history when there is a commercial association involved - for version 4.4 KitKat Google partnered with Nestle (who owns that brand), and this time around the search giant managed to get Mondelez aboard the train co -branding.
Android 8.0 The Oreo code will be uploaded by Google engineers to the Android Open Source project today, while software updates for compatible Nexus and Pixel devices should arrive "soon". Of course, the final compilation will be sent to the devices enrolled in the Android Beta Program as well. Google also says that by the end of the year must expect devices from Essential, General Mobile, HMD Global, Huawei, HTC, Kyocera, LG, Motorola, Samsung, Sharp and Sony to launch with or be updated to Android Oreo.
The latest version of Android comes with image-in-picture support, notification points, fully redesigned emoji (including over 60 new ones), built-in Google Play Protect, application overuse limits, faster boot speeds, Autofill, and support for Android Instant Apps.
