Google said the Asus ZenFone AR will be on sale for the summer of this year. Now, an official Asus invitation has confirmed that the phone will be launched on June 14 in Taiwan. Asus had first introduced the ZenFone AR at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January. So almost six months have passed since the device's unveiling, but has not yet hit the market. However, given the press invitation sent by Asus, you can finally get your hands on the smartphone.
To remember, the Asus ZenFone AR is the second device in the Google Tango series. The first is the Lenovo PHAB 2 Pro, which was released last year. In particular, the ZenFone AR is the first phone to offer support for both Google Tango AR and Daydream VR. In addition to this, the smartphone also has 8GB of RAM on board. Speaking of other specs, the Asus ZenFone AR features a 5.7-inch AMOLED screen with QHD resolution. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon 821 processor. Apart from the 8GB variant, there is also a basic version with 6GB of RAM. Storage-wise, the ZenFone AR has 64GB / 128GB of native storage space. Power Device is a 3300mAh battery which offers fast charging support.
On the software front, it runs on Zen UI 3.0 which is based on Android 7.0 Nougat. The phone also features a fingerprint scanner and a USB type C port. Now reaching the key highlight of the ZenFone AR, it has a rear camera configuration consisting of three camera sensors. The 23MP camera is equipped with functions such as motion tracking, depth of measurement and mapping of the room. There is also a dual LED flash that accompanies the camera. At the front, the device carries an 8-megapixel selfie shooter with dual LED flash. At present, there has been no word on the prices of the Asus ZenFone AR.
