Earlier this week, HTC is rumored to be the manufacturer of both the Nexus smartphones Google planned for the year. Now, a reliable informant turned developer HTC has confirmed the rumors and revealed what appear to be internal key names in the phone.
LlabTooFeR ROM developer tweeted Tuesday that while the smaller 5-inch device rumored HTC Nexus will be the code name T50, the larger version with 5.5-inch screen would codenamed T55. Nothing more is known about the two smart phones for now.
HTC is no stranger to the Nexus devices. The company launched the Nexus 9, a 9-inch tablet in collaboration with Google in 2014. It is recalled that the two companies have partnered to launch the Nexus One, the first Nexus device, in January 2010. The phone comes with Android 2.2 Froyo.
Over the years, Google has partnered with a number of manufacturers for their Nexus smartphones and tablets. It has partnered with Samsung to launch the Nexus S and Google Nexus and Nexus 10, with LG to launch the Nexus 4, the Nexus 5 and Nexus 5X. The company partnered with Huawei last year to launch the Nexus 6P, and with Motorola to launch the Nexus 6 in 2014.
If the rumors are true, the line of smartphones HTC Nexus bring back on stage. The Taiwanese company has been struggling to sell its smartphones, losing money quarter after quarter.
