Sony working on a 4K display for Xperia Z5 Plus

Sony held back on the screen resolution, remaining in 1080 from the original Xperia Z to Xperia Z3 + QHD just going to the Xperia Z4v. The company may be looking to jump to the front of the line with a 4K screen.

A user agent profile details the Sony E68XX group of phones. Those are expected to monitor the Xperia Z5 ahead and take the name of Xperia Z5 +. The Z5 + is rumored to have a "screen of 5.5 or larger, but even then one 4K screen make for a crazy 801ppi pixel density.

The profile also reveals the chipset - MSM8944, aka Snapdragon 810. overheating concerns aside, we have certain doubts Adreno 430 can drive a 4K screen. To avoid confusion about labels 4K is 3840 x 2,160px, the same as a TV UHD and more than twice the number of pixels in a QHD (4x 1080p display) screen.

Sharp has already announced a "4K LCD 5.5 expected in 2016, although Sony could use a different provider. ZTE can also be in the 4K race.
