According to a new report by the media in South Korea, local manufacturer Samsung managed to sell 200,000 units edge of the S6 and S6 galaxy in their country of origin within 10 days of commercial availability. Although previous estimates, said the South Koreans have pre-ordered 300,000 units, it seems that the latest smartphones from Samsung are not so gaining traction in the country as previously believed.
The report goes on to mention that the estimated sales of 10 days is not necessarily a bad sign for Samsung globally, as the smartphone market in South Korea is already oversaturate. Subsidies low support for Galaxy S6 series is also said to have played an important role in lower sales than expected factor. When the Galaxy S6 series launched in South Korea ten days ago, companies only offered shaved ₩ 210,000, or about $ 194 from the sale price unlocked. The local media reports that transport subsidies for the S6 series have increased over the past weekend, but telecommunications companies still have to obey the limit imposed by the government for subsidies for smartphones, currently of ₩ 330,000 (about $ 305).
Globally, some analysts expect Samsung to sell about 50 million units edge of the S6 and S6 Galaxy for the end of the year, while others raised their expectations at about 70 million units by the end of 2015.
