The Lumia 640 is like one upgrade for the Lumia 635 the company low end LTE smartphone. Sporting a 5 inch high-definition screen, it packs an 8-mega pixel rear snapper with LED flash and a front camera 1 mega pixel. There is an option for dual card slots SIM. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor 1.2GHz quad-core, with 1GB of RAM. It has a 2500 mAh battery.
The slightly higher-end Lumia 640 XL comes with a 5.7 inch screen with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3, a 13 mega pixel camera with Zeiss optics and a front camera of 5 mega pixels. The processor and RAM is the same as the regular size Lumia 630. A large 3,000mAh battery completes the package.
Both devices running Windows Phone 8.1 and also get the Lumia Denim update, which offers features like Live Folders, one stroke Action Center and Flow Word. On the storage front, the new Lumia devices get 8GB of storage which is expandable up to 128 GB through microSD card slot. In addition, there are also gets 30 GB of free space on One Drive.
According to a report by Central Windows, Microsoft plans to sell new devices in the web eCommerce site Flip-kart. The report also added that Flip-kart has listed the device, Lumia 640, would be included in their commission payments April under the exclusive category, which means that at least on-line, the device will be sold exclusively through the e-retailer. Although there is no information provided by the Lumia 640 XL is believed that Microsoft will release two devices simultaneously in India.
