Leaked image of Google Pixel 5 prototype reveals strange design

Google introduced the Pixel 4a last month and is rumored to launch the Pixel 5 on October 15, with the 4a 5G said to arrive in November. Thanks to the leaked renders and spec sheets, we have a pretty good idea of what to expect from both smartphones.

The Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 look similar, but a picture has surfaced of what is supposedly a prototype of the Pixel 5, revealing that the Google team once considered a strange and strange design for the smartphone.

The prototype has a two-tone design reminiscent of the first-generation Pixel from 2016, except that it's the bottom that is made of glass. At least, that is what it seems.

While the source says it is the Pixel 5, upon closer inspection you may notice that there is a cutout at the top for the 3.5mm headphone jack, which from previous leaks we know is absent on the Pixel 5 but is present in the 4a 5G. which means this could be a prototype of the Pixel 4a 5G we're looking at. Even more so because the power button is painted white.

Whatever the phone, we're glad Google scrapped this design in favor of a not-too-exciting but understated one.
