Google announced a new scholarship programme to train 1.3 lakh students in India; Know how to apply

Sensing the need for Indian talent for emerging technologies, Google, in partnership with the Pluralsight technology learning platform and the Udacity educational institution, announced on Thursday a new scholarship program that will help train 1.3 lakh developers and students in all the country.

As part of the program, Google will finance 100,000 scholarships on the Pluralsight technology learning platform and 30,000 scholarships on the Udacity platform. The scholarship will allow students to access the advanced learning curriculum and promote their employability in mobile and web development, machine learning, augmented and virtual reality, artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud platforms.

"The new scholarship program is in line with Google's goal of training two million developers in India.The country is the second largest developer ecosystem in the world and is destined to surpass the US For the year 2021, "said William Florance, Developer Products Group and Skilling Lead for India, Google. In 2015, Google CEO Sundar Pichai declared that the global Internet search engine giant will train 2 million new Android developers in the next three years in India.

"In the last year, we have involved more than half a million students and developers across India through a variety of programs and initiatives Since announcing our training initiative in India, 210,000 students have completed courses developed by Google at Udacity , with 117,000 students completing the course this year, "Florance reported. With Udacity, 1,000 developers will also be selected to receive full Nanodegree scholarships.

"Unlike China, India is lagging behind in innovation but is adopting technologies faster, there is an urgent need to improve and rescue India's technology workforce," Florance said. According to Arun Rajamani, Country Head and General Manager of Pluralsight, India's technology workforce is going through a transition phase.



"We are pleased to partner with Google to help Indian developers understand their skill level using Pluralsight IQ and advance their skills in four key roles: Android developer, mobile web specialist, cloud architect and data engineer" said Rajamani.

"With this scholarship program, students can master the skills of web and mobile development with Udacity and Google experts," added Ishan Gupta, CEO of Udacity India.
