OnePlus 3 and 3T get's android O update's within this year

While OnePlus 5 is getting all the attention recently, the company has not forgotten its older models OnePlus 3T and OnePlus 3. Or at least in terms of software updates. Earlier this month Pete Lau, founder and CEO of OnePlus, announced and confirmed on Twitter that the two 2016 flagships would upgrade to Android O, which is also Google's next major Android iteration. At that point of time, he did not mention any time frame, but the owners of the two phones were happy though.

Now, we also need to know when upgrades to OnePlus 3 and 3T will be updated. At an AMA (Ask Me Anything) session recently held at Reddit, one OnePlus employee said that both smartphones would upgrade to Android O "within this year." The reason we are not giving a definite timeline is that OnePlus will first have to wait for Google to launch Android O. We expect to see the final version of the software sometime in August.
So Android O should start hitting the eligible devices starting this summer. Currently, it is still in beta and can only be installed on Google Pixel and Nexus devices. Now, considering OnePlus' past in delivering updates, it has not been the fastest and the company does not have the best registry. Well, you may be familiar with the OnePlus 2 case.
The company had announced that the smartphone would be upgraded to Nougat, but reportedly, that has not happened. Hopefully, OnePlus will live up to what it said this time. In addition, it is clear that the recently released OnePlus 5 will also be upgraded to Android O.
