Google's next version of Android N will be called Android nougat. Last year at its annual developer conference Google I / O month, the company had invited users to help name N. Android is not clear whether the name Android nougat was the popular choice among the suggestions, or is it something that google declined alone. Interestingly, the nougat was the third most popular choice in a survey of our own.
Android nougat name continues the tradition of naming the major versions of Android after desserts. It all started with Android 1.5 Cupcake, followed by Android 1.6 Donut, Eclair Android 2.0, Android 2.2 Froyo and Android 2.3. The pattern continued with Android 3.0 Honeycomb, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, Android 4.4 KitKat, Android 5.0 Lollipop, and Android 6.0 taffy.
Before Thursday's announcement the word nougat represents a family of confections made with sugar or honey, roasted nuts, whipped egg whites and chopped candied fruit times.
Android N will bring improvements such as multi-window support, improved notifications, renewed torpor, number lock, and more.
